The PPIS MICROBUSINESS FOUNDATION PROGRAMME is a structured programme consisting of a series of workshops jointly organised by PPIS and SMCCI to develop the capabilities of aspiring female microbusiness owners. The programme aims to expose them to key business issues and mentorship opportunities, thereby building a virtuous ecosystem of successful home-based businesses.

 

Upon completion of the programme, the top three teams/individuals will stand to win a Start-up Grant worth $500 should they get selected for the best presentation.

Mardiana Abdul Aziz

Mardiana Abdul Aziz has worked in the financial services industry for more than a decade across various roles from investments, business strategy and regulatory compliance. In her current role as a Senior Vice President of a private equity firm, she is involved in the full cycle of the investment process from looking for investable companies to integrating them within the group. Majority of her time is spent working hand in hand with the portfolio companies on strategic direction, corporate governance, budgeting and scaling the business. She knows starting a business fromscratch is not easy and admires entrepreneurs taking risks to address unmet needs and provide value to the community.

She is also a member of the Singapore Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Investment Advisory Committee where she provides advisory support on the development.

Eddie Teo

Eddie Teo consults and coach business owners and professionals on leads generation and conversation strategies, leveraging on the various platforms on the internet, including search engines, social media platforms and news agencies. He has been actively conducting training classes for the past 10 years. In addition, he also conducts one to one personal coaching sessions for business owners by sharing his knowledge on how to find wins and be successful in online marketing and promotions.

He has operated several web portals including Hotels.Online Singapore, a service that he started from the ground up, building the service to one of the leading online hotel reservation groups, despite spending zero dollars on advertising and marketing. The service was later sold to a listed company. He is very passionate in training and imparting his knowledge to those who are keen to establish themselves as digital marketers or be tech savvy business owners. With more than 20 years of work experience in various industries, he has trained more than 3,000 learners.

Norhayati Mohammad Ali

Norhayati Mohammad Ali, holds an Honours Degree in Bachelor of Science in Business Administration majoring in Marketing and a Diploma in Business Administration, majoring in Public Relations and Advertising.

She has over 20 years experience working in the private and

social service sector in the areas of legal and trademark, business development, research, marketing and advertising, training and development, public relations, social enterprise, management of endowment assets, fund development and social data analytics.

Norhayati had served in organizations namely, Donaldson & Burkinshaw, SI Education, Midien Enterprise, Yayasan MENDAKI, MENDAKI SENSE, East Wing Holdings, Warees Investments Pte Ltd and Club HEAL.

Who can participate in the programme?


We are looking for home-based businesses who are in their early stages of building their business and are keen to further scale and grow to the next level, eventually turning them into an ACRA-registered business.

New and aspiring entrepreneurs who plans to open a home-based business within the next 6 months are also welcome to apply and will be required to submit their proof of registration with ACRA within the next one year.

Can I participate as a group?


You can choose to participate as an individual or as a group of maximum 3 pax.




What are the eligibility criteria to apply for the programme?


Interested participants must fulfil the following criteria:

  3. Currently own a home-based business operating between 0 to 2 years OR plans to operate a home-based business within the next 6 months
  4. Business is currently not ACRA registered
  5. Aspiring and current microbusiness owners from low-income households or households affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.




Is there a participation fee to join the programme?


There is a participation fee of $50 for both groups as well as individual participants, however, 80% of the fee will be reimbursed to individuals/groups who complete the entire programme successfully.
